Dear Talented Ilkhom Artists, I was lucky enough to be volunteering for your performance this evening at the Indiana University Auditorium. I've volunteered there for the past two years, seen dozens of impressive productions. But yours tonight was, without question, the best I've seen. I don't think I've ever been more moved by a work of dramatic art. I left the auditorium overwhelmed. Shortly after, I received a call on my cellphone from my mom and found myself almost unable to speak. The combination of features that went into the production- the acting, the story it brought to life, the set, the subtle yet haunting music- everything was exquisite. The work you do is important and powerful, and I feel privileged to have been able to see you during your stop in Bloomington. Spasibo, best wishes & keep up the impressive work!

I have just listened to BBC Radio 4 Podcast about your theatre... Amazing, what you guys do there. I am 18yrs old girl from Poland, acting a bit in amateur theatre but I can not compare your Director's devotion with mine's. Anyway, I can just imagine hard life in Uzbekistan, although I guess we had the same situation in my country in 80. I wish you good luck and hope one day I will be able to see your performance (maybe in Poland, who knows?) as I am very keen on theatre.

I'm English, and I've just been listening to a radio programme narrated by Natalia Antelava on BBC Radio 4 called "Crossing Continents", about Uzbekistan, your theatre and Mark Weil. It was very moving to hear about somebody like Mark, somebody that breathes fresh life and inspiration into people and the community around him. Art centres and theatres are often the most important places in cities: interestingly, music, art and theatre can also be very beneficial to the economy of a region. The music scene in Manchester, for example, is widely thought to be indirectly responsible for the upturn in the economy of that region. It's a terrible shame that the blinkered leaders that lord over your country do not have the vision to see this. After listening to the show, I was reminded how utterly essential art and specifically freedom of expression are, and I therefore wish you all the wild and beautiful luck in the world. Never stop believing, and remember: if your soul is pure, no-one can steal it.
