PREMIER COMING! «HAMLET» by W.Shakespeare
Translation by B.PASTERNAK, A.CHERNOV
Production: Ovlyakuli KHOJAKULI
A number of big writers including Leo Tolstoy and Thomas Eliot didn’t regard “Hamlet” as a full-fledged dramatical piece. They noted its under-formed composition, oddly (at least, oddly) defined characters, time contradictions and many other defects that could not allow seeing the play as a model of literature even for that time. However, all these things don’t prevent the play “Hamlet” from being an apotheosis of classical literature on the dramatic stage. Why? Probably, because, speaking nowadays language, Shakespeare hid under a roof-file a message-file the work was created for. Since then each century keeps finding here its message, more than one…

«Letters of Clay» Sukhbat Aflatuni –This story is a history of memories in the story of a certain mass of people – A teacher, who suddenly apperars in a normal modern village- Auleà. ...also something of a paraphrase of an old biblical story about a teacher (with a capital letter T) – people coming to new understandings… about the past, and therefore, changes the present. In the process many modern problems are addressed: ecology, religion, society, and nationalism… and of course a love story.

ECSTASY WITH THE POMEGRANATE - based on paintings of Usto Mumin - by M.Weil, Dm. Tikhomirov
This Performance- a drama about beauty, surrounded by ever observing admirers, of art, bordering with vulgar human desires, the search for art, broken frames of morality, about strength and weakness and embracing ones self, as we are, about a difficult merger of two different cultures, vagueness of time, and revolution. In general, varying degrees of everything. ENEYA, 13 Oktober 2006, Blog AFISHA. more>>
Ladies and gentlemen! For your convenience several performances in our theater are being presented with English subtitles. Now you can not only enjoy the exiting play of our actors, and read the full text as well! No more guessing in regards to what the actors on stage are saying! A multimedia music project dedicated to the 250th anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. …Yes, here is a parable alternates with a historical document, which inexorably confirms a rebellious spirit of Mashrab, who selected a difficult, but absolutely unique way of the world and truth perception. This is the way of a free spirit, who does not take the truth from strange, even notable, hands, the way of a maskaraboz (a buffoon), who impartially tells fair accusations to unrighteous rulers’ face. «Mashrab and Mozart – the accord of geniuses» by Yuriy Podporenko, «Vecherniy Tashkent»á May, 2006
«…Thus, a polyphony of voices coloring the immense spectrum of human experience was born in Ilkhom Theatre… Aeschylus «Oresteia» became one of the biggest, most sophisticated, and most expensive (in terms of technology) productions of the theatre thus far. While that certainly wasn't the goal, it became necessary as we continued to explore the intricacies of this complex text. And while we strove for simplicity we could not help but yearn to explore all of the potential of its meanings… ...As we were wrapping up the rehearsals and doubts began to appear at every corner, hanging over its creators like the fatal «sword of Damocles», I knew then that it was a great idea to put «Oresteia» on Ilkhom's stage». Mark Weil, Ilkhom Theater Artistic Director
Ladies & Gentlemen! Now you can buy the original soundtrack to the production of «Oresteia» and enjoy its outstanding and expressive sound. The project of «Oresteia» was initiated by Ebert Fund, and German Embassy in Uzbekistan.

November, 4 - 8: DAYS OF A MODERN GERMAN DRAMA
scenic improvisation with support Goethe Institut in Tashkent and Embassies of Switzerland in Uzbekistan This is the fourth time the stage of our theatre is going to present scenic improvisations of nowadays German plays. We are extremely glad that just from very German plays our theatre commenced another wonderful tradition – familiarization of Tashkent audience with the world dramaturgic processes. This time we have selected plays telling you very interesting for actors’ incarnation stories. The characters are shown in their everyday private lives as if they do not have any impact on important social processes. Their lives resemble some micro-spaces in the big space of human being. And these very micro-spaces are the scenes of action.

Now lots of them fruitfully work in different countries of the world: Uzbekistan, Russia, Germany, the USA, Italy… This season the students of the 6th School are to become actors but meanwhile they are still our trainées. On January 25, a two-time holyday – International Students’ Day (St Tatiana’s Day) and Master’s Birthday, there will be held the 2009official graduation. Last year we decided that from then and on we would make presents for our Master. In the year of the 20th anniversary of our School we present for him 13 new actors!
Let them remember our Master and everything he taught: - We are artist and creators not only for our roles but for our destinies as well, - Our emotions, sensuality and dreaminess are able to bear their fruit providing we work like horses, think critically and wish constructively, - We must be individuals even if it runs counter to any general opinions.
…And - the most important – we must believe in our abilities, live hoping for a better future and love the past our teachers, creators of our theatre, gave us.
So well, January 25 – “Watch out! Studio 6!” class concert.

MARK WEIL-S PLANS FOR THE ILKHOM THEATER IN THE 32ND SEASON
Ladies & Gentlemen!
Here we publish the plans for the 32nd season of Ilkhom Theatre made by Mark Weil and sent to us from Seattle in early July. We sincerely hope that with our determination and your continuous support, none of the plans made by Mark Weil will have to be altered in any way. We wish to assure you that HIS THEATER will exist for more than one season. In addition to providing us with a highly detailed schedule for the 32nd season, He also left us with general plans for the 33rd Season as well as project ideas for several years following. We intend to follow through with all of his plans and ideas, as we understand that to best serve His Memory is to continue His work, to justify His hopes and dreams and to live up to the expectations and work ethics he instilled in our characters.
We will keep His productions alive and His spirit will always remain inside of us. With the passing of Mark Yakovlevich, the existence of His Theater will not cease. This is how He brought us up, His pupils: to continue to serve Art despite any misfortunes or hardships that may occur. We will continue to work just as He would want us to – today and always.
The Ilkhom Award» was founded in 2007 by the Ilkhom Theater and remained within the framework of the Theater. In autumn of 2007 «The Ilkhom Award» was named after Mark Weil. This theater season Mark Weil planed to develop the Award as a project crossing the borders of one theater and covering different types and genres of the art. According to His idea, the Award would have become an annual forum, where community of Uzbekistan could mark the most outstanding achievements in the sphere of culture, art and mass media. One of the most important components of the forum became freedom from political and market demand-supply situation. Being a social and non-commercial forum, the Prize will mark works in the sphere of culture, art and mass media for its real artistic and social significance. This theater season Mark Weil planed to develop the Award as a project crossing the borders of one theater and covering different types and genres of the art. Famous actors, directors, composers and artists will consist of the Jury of «The Mark Weil’s Ilkhom Prize». March 1, 2008 an award ceremony of the Award will become a culmination.
«COSCOM» company - The General Sponsor of the «THE ILKHOM AWARD»
Mark Weil usually tried to spend his birthday with his family in Seattle, WA. Sometimes he met his birthday journeying between Seattle and Tashkent. On the rare occasion that he happened to be in Tashkent, he would always celebrate his birthday with great modesty. His home would only be visited by those who came of their own accord to present him with a gift… It was impossible to persuade him to celebrate his 50th or 55th jubilee publicly or colorfully – it was not his style :-). This year we decided to follow this tradition and not organize any pompous evening of magnificent speeches or fanfares. Not only because there has been such little time between grief and celebration, but because we felt it more appropriate if this evening was celebrated in the style of «Ilkhom» – lightly and poetically. For our memory of him and our sorrow for his loss burn bright and always will. He shared his light with us all of His life. Our intention is to merely present our gifts to our Master. We will read His poems and poems dedicated to Him. We will sing His songs and songs dedicated to Him. We will perform passages and sketches from the productions created by him, including the Christmas evenings. And surely enough, we will present some surprises as well!
